About Us

HOPE FOR THE CITY

Risk Cares is a Los Angeles based, certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of unhoused individuals throughout Los Angeles. Our mission is to provide essential resources such as water, food, clothing, and hygiene supplies to all those in need, with a specific focus on individuals living directly on neighborhood sidewalks.

THE MISSION

At Risk Cares, we understand that basic survival needs are just the starting point. Beyond immediate relief, we are committed to helping people transition out of homelessness by offering tangible solutions and pathways toward permanent stability. We aim to empower unhoused individuals by providing support with key tasks, such as ID registration for those without identification and assisting them in opening bank accounts, which are critical steps for re-entering society and securing stable housing and employment.

Our approach is rooted in compassion and a clear vision for long-term restoration. We strive to meet the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness, while working collaboratively with community partners and local organizations to create a roadmap for permanent solutions. Through comprehensive care and a focus on rebuilding lives, Risk Cares is committed to not only alleviating the challenges of homelessness, but also fostering pathways to independence and dignity for all Los Angelenos.

PLAN OF ACTION

In 2024, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) estimated that there were 75,312 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County and 45,252 in the city of Los Angeles.

Risk Cares is committed to serving any and all Los Angeleno's in need. With mobile services, we hope to reach individuals all throughout Los Angeles County. Our mission is also to target specific areas heavily impacted with needs to be met.

However, we also recognize that certain groups have faced discriminations that often times contributed to their current circumstances. We hope to empower these communities, and help those facing challenges overcome.

IT'S PERSONAL

“I’ve slept in cars, on benches, parks, you name it, I’ve been there. The nights I spent on the street were some of the worst days of my life. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I went almost two years once without a bank account. Do you know how hard it is to function in society with no bank account or card in this era? You can fall into a hole so big that it feels nearly impossible to get out of. It took me nearly 6-7 years to get it back together physically, financially, and mentally. I hope I can knock off a few years of the restoration process for the next person. Share what I’ve learned. How I got out. How I managed to survive and now thrive.

Through all of the pains, struggles, and falls, I always found and relied on my God given gifts to get me through. I’m still discovering and finding more of them each and every day. I hope in this next chapter of my life I get to help others find their gifts. Pull the winner out of them. Sometimes we’ve been broken down so bad by life, that we forget who we are. That we are talented, loved, admired, gifted. We all need someone to remind us of that every once in a while, and I hope I can be that person for some of these souls.”
